About the project

Arlington Energy is focused on the acquisition, development and ownership of clean energy assets across the UK.

Masdar Arlington Energy is focused on the acquisition, development and ownership of clean energy assets across the UK. Masdar Arlington is passionate about facilitating a transition away from a centralised, inflexible, carbon intensive energy network by investing in a significant portfolio of low-carbon projects.

Our Vision

This battery storage system has been designed to achieve 100MW capacity and will supply electricity to the local power network during times of peak energy demand. This will support other low-carbon and renewable projects aimed at helping ensure the UK meets its Net Zero goals.

Our approach to renewable energy is to support the national goal to reach Net Zero and move towards a more secure renewable energy supply.

The benefits of the Catherine de Barnes

battery storage site

  • We will support the UK’s greener electricity grid on our path to net-zero, flexible energy storage such as this battery storage facility will be key to ensuring we get the full benefit from our renewable technology.

  • The proposed plans would help to meet our aspirations as we tackle the nations climate emergency by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

  • The proposals have been developed with careful consideration to neighbouring amenities with thought given to the design of the facility to ensure there is low visual impact.

  • Noise and lighting have also been considered in the proposals. The battery storage facility will not produce any disrupting noise in the surrounding area, such as ‘humming’ noises. The lights on site will also be controlled to ensure power is switched off during unsociable hours.

  • This is a 30-40 year project, meaning that the site will be returned to agricultural farmland once the development has reached the end of its commercial operation.
